The 亚洲色吧 CMHC program received its second national award in October 2024. It is the recipient of the 2024 Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Outstanding Master's Counselor Education Program Award. This award acknowledges programs that educate Master鈥檚 level students and that demonstrate outstanding pre- service and in-service training in core and specialty areas. Recipient programs also demonstrate excellent in areas such as counseling, supervision, teaching, research and scholarship, and leadership and advocacy. The faculty will be recognized at the SACES conference awards ceremony on Friday, 11/8, in Dallas, TX.
It received the 2024 Innovation in Counseling: Counselor Education Community Engagement Award from the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), in February. The NBCC is a leading organization for professional development in the field of counseling. The award recognizes our department's community engagement and reciprocity across the curriculum, through direct engagement, and through collaborative scholarship. NBCC will also be highlighting the department鈥檚 work as part of an article to be featured in their NBCC Visions newsletter.
Dr. LaTonya Summers published "Black men's perceptions of mothers as primary support for wellness" in the January 2024 edition of the Journal of Counseling and Development. One of Dr. Summers' co-authors is 亚洲色吧 CMHC alumni Michael Robinson.
